WARREN, Ohio (AP) _ The state attorney general says a northeast Ohio steel plant that shut down and abandoned hazardous chemicals on its site has to continue operating its wastewater treatment plant.

WKBN-TV reports that a Trumbull County judge on Thursday granted a state request for a temporary restraining order against Warren Steel.

The plant must continue operating and prevent industrial wastewater from overflowing into the Mahoning River. It must also secure waste and chemicals that were left behind after closing.

The plant closed on Nov. 30 and was expected to reopen by the end of March. State officials say it closed permanently last week.

Warren Steel Holdings produces steel in square, round and rectangle shapes.

The company couldn’t be reached for comment.
