Tax Sale Offers Hundreds of Properties

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Hundreds of delinquent properties hit the auction block Wednesday. About 700 to 900 tracts go up for sale in Allen County’s property tax sale.

Officials say if you don't pay your tax liabilities after about eighteen months, your property will be in danger of being sold.

Deputy treasurer Bill Royce says they try to work with owners to keep it from being in jeopardy. Sometimes, just going on the list is enough motivated to get bills settled.

The auction gets underway at 9 a.m. at the Rousseau Center on Main Street. The bidders actually are vying for the tax lien. The lien can be redeemed by the owner for up to a year after the auction.
