Train Collides with SUV in Goshen, Injuring Four People

GOSHEN, Ind. (WOWO): Four people were injured Saturday evening after a train struck an SUV at a railroad crossing in Goshen.

Emergency crews were dispatched just before 5:30 p.m. to the North Main Street railroad crossing after reports of a collision between a train and a vehicle. According to WNDU-TV, first responders arrived to find an SUV on the south side of the tracks that had been hit by the train.

Police said a 44-year-old woman suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to a regional hospital. Her current condition has not been released.

A 39-year-old man and two children, ages 5 and 6, were also injured in the crash. Authorities said all three were taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

The collision temporarily closed the North Main Street and Beaver Lane railroad crossings while emergency crews worked at the scene and investigators examined the crash site. Both crossings have since reopened to traffic.

Police have not released details about what led to the collision, and the investigation remains ongoing.
