Trucker Killed While Helping with I-70 Crash

INDIANAPOLIS (AP): Police say a trucker was struck and killed after he stopped to help people involved in a pre-dawn crash on Interstate 70 near Indianapolis International Airport.

The crash happened in the highway's westbound lanes about 4 a.m. Wednesday and caused police to close that section for more than three hours just west of I-465 on the city's southwest side.

State police tell Indianapolis television stations that the semitrailer driver stopped along I-70 after two passenger vehicles crashed. Police say the trucker was trying to direct traffic around the crash and was hit by another semi.
