KOKOMO, Ind.(AP): A federal agency has awarded two Indiana manufacturers more than $15 million in tax credits intended to boost their production of clean energy equipment.

Delphi Automotive Systems is getting $10.6 million in tax credits from the U.S. Department of Energy for upgrades that will help its Kokomo Power Electronics plant remain competitive in the electric vehicle market by cutting production and engineering costs.

Delphi plans to invest more than $35 million through 2017 at the Kokomo factory as part of the project that's expected to create more than 150 new jobs.

Heating and air conditioning maker Carrier Corp.'s Indianapolis plant is getting about $5 million in tax credits to boost production of a condensing gas furnace product line that includes the most energy efficient gas furnaces on the market.
