Oil Drilling to Start near Indiana State

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP): A company is set to move drilling equipment onto Indiana State University's property and start looking for oil.

Pioneer Oil Co. executive Steve Miller says analysis of recent seismic surveys indicates an oil reservoir near the campus in downtown Terre Haute. Crews are expected to start setting up equipment on Saturday and then start drilling work next week.

Indiana State officials  say they've worked with the company to minimize any impact on students and employees from the off-campus drilling. Numerous other oil wells are in operation around Terre Haute, with more starting up since a large discovery in 2011.

University vice president Diann McKee says the school doesn't have an estimate on much money it could make from the oil drilling.
