Court papers say Tarlton purchased a gun through a discount company that sells only to law enforcement. He then turned around and sold the firearm to a city councilman.
He's also accused of asking residents to either smoke marijuana or over medicate themselves so he could evaluate them to stay current on his certification through the state. However, Indiana standards do not require a person to be high or over medicated in order for exams to be conducted for certification
Tarlton is no longer employed as a Marshal and is currently in the Grant County Jail with a bond of $6,000.
