WATERLOO, Ind. (WOWO): New life for Waterloo's Thompson Park.
An army of volunteers are at work this week rebuilding the playground which was destroyed by fire in March.
Town Manager Tena Woenoker says insurance and volunteer labor will cover the replacement cost – which approached $150,000.
Another grant from the Anthony Wayne Foundation will pay for a new rubberized surface that makes the facility completely accessible to the handicapped.
Authorities say three pre-teen boys started a fire in the park which quickly spread, destroying the structure.
Organizers are still accepting volunteers. You can find more details by clicking here or contact Town Hall at (260) 837-7428, or email waterlootwnmgr@mchsi.com.
They are offering day care and meals during the project.
