CUTLER, Ind. (AP): Authorities say more than 1,000 hogs were killed by a fire that swept through barns on a central Indiana farm.
 
       The fire broke out Wednesday at the farm near the Carroll County community of Cutler, damaging three of the farm's four hog barns.
 
       Flora Fire Chief Mike Cottrell tells the Journal & Courier that investigators determined that the blaze started near coal boilers used to heat the barns. He says the age of the barns or overheating could be factors for the fire about 15 miles east of Lafayette.
 
       Cottrell says many young pigs were among about 500 that died in a nursery barn, while several hundred more died in the other two barns. The barn that didn't burn was empty.
 
       No other injuries were reported.
