2 Armed Robbery Suspects Injured in Police-Involved Shooting

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Authorities are investigating after two armed robbery suspects were injured in a police-involved shooting outside an Indianapolis business.

Officers responded Sunday night to a robbery in-progress at a Family Dollar store. The officers confronted two armed suspects wearing ski masks as they attempted to flee the store, and gave verbal commands for the suspects to drop their weapons.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department says officers opened fire on the suspects when one of them pointed a handgun at responding personnel.

The suspects were taken to local hospitals. The police department says one suspect was in critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds, while the other was in serious condition with a gunshot wound.

The officers involved in the shooting will be placed on administrative leave pending a routine investigation.
