2 Children Reported Dead from Indy Condo Fire

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Authorities say two children have died and four other people injured from a fire at an Indianapolis condominium building.

Indianapolis Fire Department spokesman Jason Kistler says a woman was taken to a hospital in critical condition from the blaze Monday morning in the community of Cumberland on the city’s east side. Two men and a boy went to hospitals in stable condition.

Television helicopter video shows that the fire burned through a portion of the upstairs wall of the two-story building and firefighters cut several holes through the roof to put out the blaze. Crews were able to extinguish the fire in about a half hour.

Authorities didn’t immediately release more information about the victims or a cause of the fire.
