2nd Indianapolis Officer Shooting Brings Dismay

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ City officials say they're dismayed by the second shooting of an Indianapolis police officer in five days.

Police say Officer Gregory Stevens has been released from a hospital after being shot in the leg early Tuesday in an exchange of gunfire with a man who was also wounded and is in custody.

This shooting follows Friday's fatal shooting of Officer Rod Bradway by a gunman who was also killed.

Mayor Greg Ballard says to have two police officers shot in such a short time is shocking and heartbreaking.

Police Chief Rick Hite says Stevens has said he's ready to get back on the job.
