Arrive Early For Appearance By Aung San Suu Kyi

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) – Organizers are urging people attending a Fort Wayne public appearance by Myanmar democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi (ahng sahn soo chee) next Tuesday to arrive early because of the large crowd expected and security precautions.

Organizers said Wednesday that at least 7,000 people have indicated they’ll attend the program with the 1991 Nobel Peace Prize winner. Memorial Coliseum will have more than 10,000 seats available.

They say people are coming from as far away as Toronto and Minneapolis.

Some seats will be reserved, but most will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors will open to the public at 7:30 a.m. for the program beginning at 9 a.m.

Suu Kyi is on a 17-day U.S. tour.
