Fort Wayne Police Seek Help in Shooting Deaths

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) _ Fort Wayne police are seeking the public's help in trying to determine who killed a couple found shot to death inside a burning home.

Police Chief Rusty York tells The Journal Gazette that investigators don't believe the shootings of 40-year-old Terry Lagrone and 19-year-old Desiree Sheets on July 18 were random. He says detectives don't have any strong suspects in the shootings, but that he believes criminal activity played a role.

Lagrone had a criminal history involving drugs, including a 1997 conviction for dealing cocaine that led to a 20-year prison sentence. Court records show he was released in 2008. There was no record of Sheets being arrested in Indiana.

Police have said the couple's family members, friends and neighbors have been forthcoming with information.
