Pedestrian Reportedly in Critical Condition After Being Hit by Vehicle

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A man is in “extremely critical” condition after being struck by a car near Bishop Luers High School, according to police.

Investigators say the man was crossing Lafayette Street at Paulding Road around 10:30 a.m.. He started into the intersection while the traffic light was red, before he could make it across the roadway it turned to green. The driver of the car did not notice the man and struck him. Police say he made it just past the median when he was hit.

 

Police don't believe alcohol is involved, but the driver, a woman, will undergo drug and alcohol testing. Traffic was tied up for more than an hour as police investigated.
