Fort Wayne International Receives $2.9 Million in Grants

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Fort Wayne International Airport is getting two grants totaling more than $2.9 million. The first of the federal Airport Improvement Grants from the FAA is a $2.74 million grant to enhance access to the general aviation portion of the airport. It will include a new access road to the west side of the airfield with services to the general aviation facilities and Endeavor Air's maintenance facility and will improve access to the fueling system. The second grant is to buy a new tractor at Smith Field Airport for mowing and snow removal. Construction on the West Access Road project will start this month and is anticipated to finish in June next year.
