Fire Damages Apartment Complex

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Around 8:30 Friday night, the Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a report of smoke on Pointe Inverness Way. Crews arrived on scene and found fire in the first floor of the Pointe Inverness complex, and say it was spreading to the second floor. No one was home in either of the two affected apartments, and crews worked to evacuate the rest of the building. Firefighters contained the fire and had it under control in 40 minutes. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. While much of the damage was contained to the two apartments, a total of eight apartments were affected; displacing 17 residents.
