ELKHART, IND. (WOWO) A man has been arrested on preliminary murder charges following a weekend shooting death involving his wife in Elkhart County, according to investigators.

The Elkhart County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed 41-year-old Aaron Michael Williams was taken into custody in connection with the death of Patricia Williams.

WNDU reports that Deputies responded to a welfare check just before 3 a.m. Sunday in the 30000 block of County Road 18 in Elkhart County.

According to police, officers arrived and found an unresponsive woman with a gunshot wound at the scene.
