Fire Destroys 2 Businesses in Kendallville

KENDALLVILLE, Ind. (AP): A large fire has destroyed a building that housed two businesses in a northeastern Indiana city.

Firefighters were called late Thursday to the building near downtown Kendallville where a landscaping business and an insulation company were based.

Fire Chief Mike Riehm says crews arrived to find flames coming from the building's basement. He says the fire could have been burning for hours before it was spotted.

The fire burned through the roof and the building's walls mostly collapsed. Firefighters sprayed down a nearby house for a time to prevent the flames from spreading.

No injuries were reported. The fire's cause wasn't immediately known.
