West Nile Virus Confirmed in WOWO Listening Area

DEKALB COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): The West Nile virus has been confirmed within the WOWO listening area. Officials with the Indiana State Department of Health say that two batches of mosquitoes have tested positive for West Nile virus in DeKalb County.

According to our partners in news at 21 Alive, the testing was conducted on July 2nd confirming the virus within the two batches. West Nile virus is spread by infected mosquitoes, so health officials suggest that you get rid of standing water, dispose of old tires, clean out your gutters and always change the water in pet dishes, to reduce mosquito breeding.
