Councilman Jehl Expresses Concerns With Legacy Spending

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Fort Wayne City Councilman Russ Jehl is concerned at how fast Legacy funds are being spent.

In roughly the past 20 months, the City has awarded around $28 million in Legacy funding. The projects include the Ash Brokerage parking garage, the University of Saint Francis' downtown campus and also the Fairfield and Ewing Street construction. Jehl tells our partners in news at 21Alive that the city needs to learn how to be more selective on spending. He says at this rate, we'll only have about $6 million a year to spend over a 11 year period.

Jehl says he hopes that the upcoming Legacy Committee will help make stricter guidelines on how the money will be spent.
