City Council to Consider Dana Tax Relief

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): City Council is ramping up for the end of the year. Counting tonights meeting, there are just four sessions left before 2015.

Council members will revisit a $49 million expansion project at the Dana plant on West State. The company is asking for tax phase-ins. The company employs more than 500 workers.

A city plan to acquire a parcel of land along West US. 30 for new business park will go to vote.

Also, working its way through council, A plan for eight city utility improvement projects that will total more than $15 million dollars will be introduced.

Another city company, Dirig Sheet Metal wants to expand to a new property on West Cook Road. That's the old Magic and Old York Potato Chip Plant. They are asking for similar tax relief as they pour $1.4 million into the facility. They say it will create 6 new jobs.

A vote to approve could come December 9.
