FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A new grant will be helping the animals at the Allen County SPCA.

The $9,225 in grant money has been awarded from the Best Friends Animal Society for its Name Your Feline Adoption Fee initiative. The money will go towards helping homeless pets, says shelter director Jessica Henry. “This grant means that we can add the Name Your Feline Adoption Fee initiative to our efforts this year to find forever homes for our rescued pets,” said Henry. “Our goal will be to adopt out 206 felines in the first quarter of 2015 to loving families. We appreciate the support of Best Friends Animal Society in making Name Your Feline Adoption Fee possible.”

Previously, the shelter asked for $10 to adopt any cat in the program, which was a reduction from $70 in 2012.
