As Many as 90 Vehicles Crash in Michigan Interstate Pileup

GALESBURG, Mich. (AP) _ State police say as many as 90 vehicles have crashed on both sides of Interstate 94 in southwestern Michigan.

Inspector Tracey McAndrew says injuries have been reported Friday. He says there are some vehicle fires as a result of the pileups, but that he has no other details.

The crashes are located between mile markers 88 and 92 in eastern Kalamazoo County. McAndrew says slick roads may have been a factor. He says people who aren't injured are being taken to warming centers.

According to WWMT in Michigan, one of the vehicles, a semi, was hauling 40 thousand pounds of fireworks and some are launching on the scene as the semi is on fire.

Officials say that stretch of roadway will be shut down for an extended period of time.
