FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Home Builders Association of Fort Wayne says the number of building permits has gone down in Allen County. That means that home building is declining, with over a 10 percent drop last year.

However, the cost of the average home in Allen County went up by 7 percent last year, to $242,000. 

The National Association of Home Builders estimates a 26 percent increase this fall, with the average cost of a home at $802,000.
