Ohio Governor Proposes Drastic Cut in Small Business Taxes

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP): Ohio Gov. John Kasich is proposing the elimination of nearly all income taxes paid by small businesses to take advantage of the improving economy.

Kasich's proposal eliminates the tax on income for all small businesses with annual gross receipts of $2 million or less.

Kasich said Thursday the goal is to encourage entrepreneurship and grow the economy to help people get jobs.

Kasich also is proposing making it easier for low-income families to keep child-care subsidies as their income increases.

The Republican governor also wants county job centers to create more comprehensive programs to focus a variety of services on individuals based on their needs.

Kasich's budget plan is due out Monday.
