FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation is monitoring the dog flu virus that's pounded the Chicago area.
According to our Partners in News at 21Alive, there have been no confirmed cased of dog flu in Allen County, but Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation is talking with Animal Care and Control on what to do if a case is reported in the area.
One idea was to close Pawster Park that's located on Winchester Road, to prevent the spread of disease.
The virus is very contagious and is spread by dog-to-dog contact, as well as dog-to-human-to-dog contact, as reported by 21Alive.
Humans have not been shown to contract the disease. If your dog is infected, symptoms include a runny nose, cough, and fever.
There are plans to open a second dog park in Fort Wayne near Johnny Appleseed Park.
