Pros and Cons of High Tax Rates in Indy

If you’ve been to Indianapolis lately and thought things were a lot more expensive than what we pay here in the Summit City……you’d be right. According to Global Business Travel Association, the Circle City has the 8th highest tax amount in the country; 17% for hotels, 15% on car rentals, and 9% on food. When you put pencil to paper, that works out to about 35 dollars a day just in taxes. There are some business owners who feel the tax rate is too high, and we’re defeating the purpose of people coming here. On the other hand, there are those who say people are coming for the big attractions and the taxes help maintain those big attractions.
