Mourdock Renews Calls for Full Benghazi Investigation: Asks Donnelly to Break His Silence

(Greenfield, IN) – October 29, 2012 – Indiana Treasurer and United States Senate candidate Richard Mourdock today renewed his call for a full investigation into the attack on America’s consulate in Benghazi, Libya, and asked why Congressman Donnelly has not yet joined him.

“Almost daily we learn more about the terrorist attack on our consulate in Benghazi that killed four Americans. For days we were told that the attack on our consulate was caused by a spontaneous mob. Now we know the Obama administration knew within hours that the siege of the consulate was a terrorist attack and that a group with ties to Al-Qaeda claimed responsibility,” Mourdock said.

“I am calling for a full and immediate investigation by the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee to understand why requests by the consulate for additional security went unheeded as to ensure the future security of American diplomats and service personnel around the world,” Mourdock said. “This is a time for strong leadership and character. I continue to be disappointed in Congressman Donnelly’s silence on this issue. If Congressman Donnelly won’t even push his party’s leaders for answers to basic questions on such a vital national security issue, how can we expect him to stand up to his party’s leaders in the Senate?”
