Hoosiers Remember Connecticut School Shooting Victims…

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) _ About 100 people gathered outside a western Indiana school to remember the victims of the Connecticut school shooting.

The candlelight vigil Sunday evening in Terre Haute was organized by the Benjamin Franklin Elementary School Parent-Teacher Organization

Among those attending was Patrick Gainer, who has six grandchildren younger than 10. Gainer tells the Tribune-Star the deaths of the 20 children are unthinkable and that he wonders when such violence will stop.

Those at the vigil released a balloon for each of the victims as their names were read aloud.

Many students at Riverside Junior High School in Fishers are wearing blue on Monday to honor those killed. Parent Jennifer Gabbard tells The Indianapolis Star that word’s been spread through a text-messaging campaign among the students.
