Board Suspends Blast Suspect’s Nursing License

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Indiana regulators have temporarily suspended the license of an Indianapolis registered nurse charged with setting a deadly house explosion.

WRTV-TV and The Indianapolis Star report the seven-member Indiana State Board of Nursing voted unanimously Thursday for the emergency suspension of Monserrate Shirley’s license pending the outcome of her prosecution on charges of two counts of murder, two counts of conspiracy to commit arson and 45 counts of arson.

A Nov. 10 explosion at Shirley’s Indianapolis home destroyed the residence and other nearby houses, killing a couple living next door and causing about $4 million in damages. Also charged are Shirley’s boyfriend, Mark Leonard, and his brother, Bob Leonard.
