Ex-FBI Agent Strikes Child Porn Plea Deal

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ A former FBI agent who was involved in the investigations of the Oklahoma City bombing and “Unabomber” Ted Kaczynski has petitioned to plead guilty to charges of possessing and distributing child pornography.

U.S. Attorney Joe Hogsett said Tuesday that 54-year-old Donald J. Sachtleben of Carmel has struck a plea agreement under which he also would pay $20,000 in restitution to the victim portrayed in the materials he allegedly possessed. The deal needs a judge’s approval.

Prosecutors say Sachtleben could face five to 20 years in prison for the distribution charge and up to 10 years for the possession charge. Both charges also carry fines of up to $250,000 and lifetime supervised release if he is found to be guilty.

Investigators have said they traced data on a computer to Sachtleben.
