Car Chase Leads to Drug Investigation

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind (WOWO):  A short car chase Wednesday afternoon turned into an investigation for state police.

It began when police attempted to stop a driver for speeding near Quine and Edison roads. The chase only lasted a few minutes, when the diver jumped out of is purple Ford Escort and started running.

Police found the abandoned Ford Escort minutes later near Pear and Early roads. According to witnesses the man driving the purple Escort had been seen in the area for the past few days. In the meantime,

The vehicle was impounded and taken to a tow shop in South Bend. 

Meanwhile an investigation led police back to the Ford Escort late Wednesday night. Inside the car, they noticed several items that are considered precursors to meth manufacturing. A search warrant for the car was obtained and several items including the remnants of a mobile meth lab were discovered.

Police are asking for help in the case with identifying the driver of the purple Ford Escort. He’s described as a white man with short dark hair.
