NETWORK INDIANA _ A group of Indiana teachers delivered dropped off a memo signed by dozens of educators expressing their support for Common Core, to Indiana Schools Superintendent Glenda Ritz.

They say the state should continue to use the Common Core teaching program rather than reverting back to Indiana Standards next year while state legislators examine Common Core. Teachers Seria Walton, Christina Lear and Laura Nelson delivered the letters.

Walton says they would like to continue teaching Common Core. Walton says Indiana Standards are too cumbersome and requires too much rote memorization. She says students learn better with Common Core which teaches students to actually think. Lear says Common Core appears to be better at preparing students for high school and beyond. Upon delivery of the letter, an assistant stated Superintendent Ritz was out of town on business.
