Muncie Girl’s Death Ruled Homicide

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) _ Authorities say a 5-year-old Muncie girl had open sores and blisters and other injuries.

Delaware County Coroner Scott Hahn ruled the girl’s death a homicide following an autopsy on Monday. Her identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, but a deputy coroner has said the girl was from Haiti and that the birth mother still lives in the Caribbean nation.

Hahn told The Star Press the girl suffered “multiple acute injuries” but can’t yet pinpoint the exact cause of death.

The girl’s guardians, Marcus and Charlene Tabb, are being held without bond in the Delaware County Jail on preliminary charges of neglect of a dependent causing serious bodily injury. It wasn’t clear if they have an attorney.
