Rossville High’s Class of 1940 Still in Touch

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP): A north-central high school's Class of 1940 is still staging class reunions 73 years after their high school commencement.

Rossville High School's Class of 1940 had 32 students and fewer than half of them are still alive. But three of them gathered Friday at Heritage Healthcare in West Lafayette for their 73rd high school reunion. Mixing it up in the gathering were 91-year-old Fran Mansfield, 92-year-old Vernon Cripe and 91-year-old Donald Sharp.

Mansfield and Cripe were named homecoming queen and king Friday. They wore sashes and royal headwear on a short convertible ride in the nursing home's parking lot while Sharp watched.

The three graduates joined several relatives and nursing home residents at Friday's reunion, which featured a singer crooning 1940-era tunes.
