INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Gov. Mike Pence's office says the partial federal government shutdown will cost Indiana about $33,000 for each day the budget impasse continues.

The governor's office says Indiana has enough money on hand to continue many of the largest joint federal-state programs like Medicaid and jobless benefits through the partial shutdown. Pence spokeswoman Christy Denault says Indiana should also be able to fund welfare benefits and a program that aids pregnant women, mothers and their children through October.

Office of Management and Budget Director Chris Atkins tells WIBC-FM the state's cash reserves will keep many programs going up to a month before running short. 
 
Indiana is dipping into its surplus to put 244 National Guard staff on Indiana's payroll for at least one week.
