INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – A judge says prosecutors can seek sentences of life in prison without parole for two people charged in a deadly explosion that ravaged an Indianapolis neighborhood.

WISH-TV reports that Marion Superior Court Judge Sheila Carlisle issued the ruling late Friday, nearly three months after attorneys for Monserrate Shirley and Mark Leonard asked her to eliminate those possible sentences. The defense attorneys argued that amended murder charges filed by prosecutors didn't include aggravating factors needed to seek life-without-parole sentences. 
 
Shirley, Leonard, and Leonard's brother Bob face charges of murder and arson in the Nov. 10 blast that killed two people and badly damaged dozens of homes in the Richmond Hill subdivision.
