Police ID 2 Workers Killed on I-69

INDIANAPOLIS (AP): Police have identified two construction workers who were killed in a crash while removing traffic restrictions after overnight paving along Interstate 69 on the northeast side of Indianapolis.

The crash happened about 6 a.m. Friday in the southbound lanes of the highway a couple miles north of I-465. The crash caused traffic to back up for several miles in the heavily traveled suburban area.

State police say those killed were 49-year-old Kenneth Duerson Jr. of Indianapolis and 24-year-old Coty Demoss of Noblesville. They both worked for contractor Reith Riley.

Sgt. Rich Myers says the workers were almost done removing cones from the roadway when a pickup truck ran into an arrow board that hit them. He says the driver was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
