Teen Dies after Rescue from Indiana City Pool

FRANKFORT, Ind. (AP) _ The mayor of a central Indiana town has decided to temporarily close the pool in which a 15-year-old boy drowned.

WLFI-TV reports that Frankfort Mayor Chris McBarnes announced Wednesday the public pool at TPA Park will be closed for the rest of the season. He said the decision was made out of respect to the boy's family and to allow police to conduct a thorough investigation.

Police Chief Troy Bacon says Adrian Alanis was spotted at the bottom of the pool Monday afternoon. Bacon says pool workers performed CPR on the teen until medics arrived and took him to an Indianapolis hospital. Alanis died the following day.

McBarnes says city police are still investigating the circumstances of the teenager's death and a comprehensive review of pool operations is being implemented.
