MUNSTER, Ind. (AP) _ The Gary/Chicago International Airport Authority has settled a lawsuit that accused former members of favoritism.
The Times reports that the authority will pay the Gary Jet Center $90,000. The authority also promised to level the playing field for all aircraft-servicing companies at the airport.
In December, the Gary Jet Center filed a lawsuit claiming members of the Airport Authority gave an unfair advantage to a Chicago real estate firm and shortchanged taxpayers.
The lawsuit claimed that an operation set up by East Lake Management & Development was not held to the same strict standards as the Gary Jet Center. It said the company was granted unusual privileges, including a waiver of fuel flowage fees.
East Lake Management & Development denied receiving special treatment.
