Former Indiana Postmaster gets More than 5 years

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) – A former Indiana postmaster has been sentenced to more than five years in federal prison on charges of receiving and possessing child pornography.

The Evansville Courier & Press reports that 60-year-old Floyd M. Thompson of Evansville will permanently be on supervised release after he has completed his sentence. He also has to register as a sex offender.

Court documents say authorities found thousands of child pornography files on computers taken from his home. Officers were able to trace downloaded images to Thompson through an open source public file sharing network.

Thompson pleaded guilty to the charges in July.
