Two Gary Teenagers Killed in Overnight Shooting

GARY, Ind. (AP) – Authorities say two teenagers were fatally shot in a Gary neighborhood.

City police say officers found the teens fatally wounded on a street corner after being called to the scene about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Police Lt. Tom Pawlak tells The Times of Munster that officers canvassed the area, but didn't immediately have any suspects or leads into who committed the shootings.

The Lake County coroner's office identified the victims as 15-year-old Javonte Bridges and 18-year-old Raphael Jones Jr., both of Gary. Bridges lived within a couple blocks of the shooting scene.

Pawlak says the teens' families didn't realize they weren't at home when the shootings happened.
