18 Indiana State Parks Still Closed Monday and Tuesday

INDIANA, (WOWO): 18 Indiana State Parks are going to be closed Monday and Tuesday for deer reduction hunts. Citing a recent study from Purdue University, the Department of Natural Resources says the park hunts have successfully brought back some ecological balance to the parks.

To check the overabundant deer populations, the DNR introduced controlled hunts in state parks in 1993, with most parks adopting the strategy by 1996.

The state parks affected are Brown County, Chain O’Lakes, Charlestown, Clifty Falls, Fort Harrison, Harmonie, Indiana Dunes, Lincoln, McCormick’s Creek, Ouabache, Pokagon, Potato Creek, Prophetstown, Shakamak, Spring Mill, Summit Lake, Tippecanoe River and Whitewater Memorial.
