FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) – More Indiana hospitals are being advised to put temporary visitor restrictions in place to try to protect patients and staff from the flu virus.

The Fort Wayne-Allen County Department of Health is recommending anyone going to a health care facility seeking treatment and who has cold or flu-like symptoms should wear a mask while in public areas. It also says no visitors under the age of 18 and no visitors of any age with flu-like symptoms should be allowed to visit patients.

It says Allen County has recorded its first-flu-related death of the season.

All major hospitals in Indianapolis began similar restrictions on Monday. Union Hospital in Terre Haute and Clinton this week also placed restrictions on visitors.
