Renovation of Old Evansville Post Office Nearing Completion

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) – A $4 million renovation of the upper floors of a historic Evansville post office is wrapping up about two years after the project's original completion date.

The Evansville Courier & Press reports (http://bit.ly/18jPYll ) that a series of delays attributed to design changes caused the renovation of Evansville's Old Post Office to drag on well past its original March 2013 completion date.

The Romanesque-style former post office was built in 1875. Crews have renovated its top two floors for use by the Social Security Administration's adjudication division. Agency workers are expected to move into the space in April.

The renovation began four years ago in a private-public partnership and cost about $4 million.
