Indianapolis Man, 21, Charged With Murder In Fatal Shooting

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Prosecutors say a 21-year-old Indianapolis man was under the influence of hallucinogenic mushrooms when he fatally shot another man and wounded his roommate.

David Scott has been charged with murder and attempted murder in the shooting death of 25-year-old Ian Buschmann and the injury of Jacob Spears.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers say Scott was standing outside with his hands up when they arrived at an apartment building Sunday night.
Spears told police a group was hanging out at the apartment when Scott, who was on drugs, took out a gun and started shooting.

Scott told investigators the gun accidentally went off when he was trying to clean it.

A message seeking comment from Scott's attorney was left Thursday by the Indianapolis Star.

A trial date has been set for May 18.
