ANDERSON, Ind. (AP) – Prosecutors say four relatives of an Anderson city councilman won't face criminal charges following an Indiana State Police investigation of alleged voting irregularities.
Madison County Prosecutor Rodney Cummings said Friday that he agreed with the State Police assessment that Ollie H. Dixon's relatives committed no violations.
Allegations surfaced last year that councilman Dixon's wife, two daughters and son all cast ballots from his residence even though they live elsewhere.
Cummings says it may be problematic that Dixon's wife and one of his daughters own other properties on which they claimed a homestead exemption for property tax purposes. But he says that's a matter for tax officials to consider, not his office.
