Police: Stage Collapses at Indiana School; More than 12 Hurt

WESTFIELD, Ind. (AP) – Authorities in central Indiana say more than a dozen people have been injured after a stage collapse at a public high school.

Matt Layton, shift supervisor at the Hamilton County emergency dispatch center, says the stage gave way Thursday night during a performance at Westfield High School. He says there were no immediate reports of fatalities.

A spokesman for the Westfield Police Department tells TV station WTHR more than 12 people were hurt and least one person was critically injured. He didn't have further details.

Sara Camden told WTHR the collapse occurred at the end of a performance of “American Pie.''

Calls to the school and school district rang unanswered Thursday night.

Westfield is about 20 miles north of Indianapolis.
