Police Investigate Fayette County Jail Death

CONNERSVILLE, Ind. (WOWO): Just after 2:00 a.m. Saturday, Fayette County Jail Staff found an inmate unresponsive in his cell. Jail staff administered first aid and EMS was called, but was unsuccessful in their attempts to resuscitate the inmate. The Fayette County Coroner pronounced the subject dead at the scene.

The inmate, identified as 49-year-old Mark Conner, had been incarcerated since April 24th for Strangulation and Domestic Battery, both Level 6 Felonies, as well as probation violation, and had been awaiting trial.

The preliminary investigation conducted by Indiana State Police Investigators suggests that inmate Mark Conner took his own life.  An autopsy to determine the exact cause of death was conducted Sunday, and the investigation is ongoing.
